We are looking for the very best teen writing of Chicago. We seek to feature a different teen writer every week. We are open to any style of writing.

By submitting, you are giving ChiTeen Lit Fest permission to publish your work if selected.

We will not accept work that is racist, homophobic, misogynistic, anti-semitic, sexist, agist, or any other form of writing that may be offensive or hurtful to others. In regard to explicit language, we are adverse to cursing without artistic purpose.

Please submit your best work, the work you are most proud of.

Genres We Accept

Fiction, Poetry, Lyrics/Songs, Essays, Creative Nonfiction, Graphic Novel, Blogs, Articles, Plays

Fonts: 11 or 12 inch font, Times New Roman, Arial, Serif

Genre Guidelines

Fiction, Essays, Creative Nonfiction, Graphic Novel:

Up to 6 pages, double-spaced on any topic of your choosing. If submitting a graphic novel, it should be linkable online.

Blog and Articles:

Limit to one blog post OR article about a book you have read, a play or event you attended, and then provide your reaction/recap.


Limit to one scene. Also provide a brief overview of the play


Up to 3 poems about your emotions, inspirations, fears, or other topics of your choosing. All types of poetry are accepted


Up to 2 songs, must have lyrical content
