World Pain

By: Shelby Davis-James

Can’t you see I’m trying?

That’s a shame

I am what some people considered a lame

But I’m just playing the game

I never chase the game, I became the pain

You see assholes trying to run our lives but never they succeed

The devil’s worshipers can even tell you they’re wrong

Escaping reality like contraband in the guard’s hand

Flamin’ hot Cheeto bustin’ our guts

Absentee fathers bustin’ their nuts

White men in suits walkin’ like they’re stuck

Scholarships missed

Lips kissed

Pockets empty

Baby crib full as hell

Stop being a damn fool about life

My mother struggled for a long ass time

Dealing with my sister’s fathers and mine.
